Account Executive

The Black Rock Group (BRG), a strategic communications and public affairs firm in Alexandria, Virginia, is hiring an Account Executive. The ideal candidate is organized and outgoing with strong writing skills and some experience/internship in public relations, media, government or political campaigns. This is an entry-level position with opportunities to advance.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage media monitoring systems, such as press clippings, media lists and social media, for a variety of account teams
  • Draft and edit communications materials, including press releases, op-eds, memos and digital media content
  • Research and analyze client issues
  • Support staff by managing administrative tasks and responsibilities
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Strong writing skills and some familiarity with written communications materials and digital strategy
  • Attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple accounts at once, work efficiently and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of and interest in current events and policy issues
  • Recent college graduates are encouraged to apply

Senior Director

The Black Rock Group (BRG), a strategic communications and public affairs firm in Alexandria, Virginia, is hiring a Senior Director. The ideal candidate is organized, outgoing and creative with superior writing skills and has work experience/internship in public relations, media, government or political campaigns. Our clients are engaged on a variety of issues including technology, energy, education and transportation.

Responsibilities:
  • Work collaboratively to develop and execute strategic communications plans for clients
  • Participate in and help manage internal client teams
  • Draft and edit press releases, op-eds, memos, digital media content and other written materials
  • Work with industry specific reporters and build media relationships
  • Interact with clients; attend meetings, field requests and manage expectations
  • Plan and organize client events
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree with three to five years in public relations, media, trade association government or campaign-related experience
  • Superior writing, editing and public speaking skills
  • Attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple accounts at once, work efficiently and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of and interest in current events and policy issues
  • Agency experience as well as an understanding of the tech industry and technology related issues is a plus
